only one day after the PlayStation 5’s launch
Sony’s global statistics show that after just one day of the free-to-play spacefaring RPG Honkai: Star Rail’s availability on the PlayStation 5, 1.3% of players have already earned the Platinum trophy.
Be assured that most of those players will credit their success to the fact that progress in HSR carries over between platforms when you connect your HoYoverse account before your mind starts to spin too much.
Cross-progression is most likely to blame since the game has been available on PC and mobile devices since April. Last night, when I first started playing the game on my PS5, I immediately unlocked 25 of the game’s 39 base game trophies. This wasn’t enough to instantly earn the Platinum, but it did get me 70% of the way there with hardly any visible effort on my part.

Additionally, there are 10 more trophies in the “Volume 2” trophy set, which is focused on the second main story chapter of the game as well as some of the updates to the Simulated Universe endgame content made since the game’s initial release. As long as Honkai: Star Rail is still a work-in-progress, a new additional trophy set should be released roughly every year if Genshin Impact, the sister title to Star Rail, is any indication.
HoYoverse is celebrating the launch of their most recent game on the PlayStation 5 with a Prime Gaming collaboration centered on the new 5-star character Jingliu that will run through October 28th and a series of Twitch Drops that will run through November 8th. On Honkai: Star Rail’s official social media accounts, there are also a ton of fan competitions going on. One of them involves designing the box art for an imagined physical release on the PS5, and another involves writing strategy guides, which, to be honest, feels like it’s aiming for my job.

Despite a confusing pre-order listing on the PlayStation Store, which falsely implied that Honkai: Star Rail would be a paid title on the latter, Honkai: Star Rail is now free to download and play on PC, Android, iOS, and PlayStation 5. Keep in mind that Honkai: Star Rail is completely playable even if you decide to stick with F2P, as it does contain microtransactions and is monetized via a gacha.
