Once again, Mojang is holding its annual Mob vote, which gives the public the opportunity to choose between three potential new mobs for Minecraft. In contrast to prior Mob Votes, which included additions like the Sniffer, a sizeable portion of the fan base has chosen to “boycott” this year’s Mob Vote in favor of not taking part.
Players can choose from the following mobs as part of the Mob Vote, which was first announced earlier this month: a Crab that allows building blocks to be placed further apart, an Armadillo that can be used to create wolf armor, and a Penguin that accelerates boats.
Shortly after the announcement of this year’s vote, the community started to protest it. A picture with the text: “Started spreading through X (formerly Twitter)”
“Stop the vote, and either release all the mobs or none at all,” was the request. Instead of teasing the fanbase with three good ideas and only adding one, it would make much more sense. Thank you, from Your Devoted & Loving Supporters #StopTheMobVote.

Do you want the penguin to be the next mob to waddle into Minecraft?

A change.org petition with the title “Stop the Mob Vote: Put an end to the scrapping of great ideas” was started shortly after that and has since received more than 300,000 signatures. The aim is to abolish voting, as the name suggests. The petition’s creators expressed their disinterest in it by writing:
The Mob Vote “generates engagement by tearing apart the community, leaving great ideas on the cutting room floor, and teasing content that will never be seen in the game,” according to the author. In the past, content creators have mobilized their fan bases to vote for the least popular option in order to prank the other voters by leaving out fan favorites like the Moobloom from the game. This demonstrates the inherent flaw in the mob vote.
The online movement has grown significantly over the past weekend. To raise awareness, people started making revolutionary and union propaganda posters inspired by the game Minecraft. You can find a number of posts expressing the same opinions on Twitter by searching for #MinecraftMobVote or #StopTheMobVote.

If you search for the same hashtags on TikTok, you’ll find posts that are similar. Some users have started quoting a specific speech from Cyberpunk 2077’s Johnny Silverhand in order to better communicate their points.
Voting starts on October 13 and ends on October 15, the same day that Minecraft Live is scheduled to air and announce the winner, so it’s unclear if this trend will be successful.
