One of the game’s essential mods has received an update to match Cyberpunk 2077’s massive 2.0 update and the addition of the Phantom Liberty expansion late last month.
The ‘Cyberpunk 2077 HD Reworked Project 2.0’ has just been made available by modder HalkHogan, which is great news for everyone who has been returning to Night City in droves to check out all the changes and explore Dogtown. This isn’t a brand-new piece of art; rather, it’s a sizable update to their original HD reworked project for Cyberpunk, which was published back in March. You can get it by simply downloading the most recent version of that mod.
The mod’s main objective is to improve the game’s original textures to a higher standard while maintaining Cyberpunk’s original visual aesthetic and avoiding performance degradation on your PC.
After CD Projekt Red temporarily defaulted to disabling mods around their releases to avoid any issues, this new version makes the mod compatible with the version of the game that is currently being offered following the deployment of the 2.0 update and Phantom Liberty.
It also includes a number of recent improvements, some of which cover textures that its previous edition had already reworked and others of which it ignored, as HalkHogan demonstrates in the video below.
In a post announcing the update, they stated, “There are still some lower resolution textures that are not covered in HDRP 2.0, but I don’t plan (to release) any further versions any time soon, so we can say that 2.0 is currently the final version (of the mod)”.
The modder also mentions that they’re now concentrating on creating an HD rework for The Witcher 3’s next-generation release, which is interesting given that the one they created for the game’s original version ended up being included in CD Projekt Red’s update for the platform.
