While the developers work to fix a recently discovered duplication exploit, trading between Diablo 4 players has been temporarily suspended.
As a result of exploits that allowed players to duplicate gold and items, Blizzard had to take similar action back in August. This is not the first time that they have had to step in and stop game transactions. Since then, Season 1 has made way for Season 2, and the current exploit may be related to one of the bosses in that season.
Due to a duplication exploit, we have temporarily suspended player trading in Diablo IV, according to community manager Rich Bantegui’s post on the game’s official forum.
He continued, “We are working on a fix to amend this issue and will update you once we have restored the ability to trade. We will continue to monitor this activity to ensure a healthy playing experience for all.
“Any account that engages in gold and item duplication exploits will be actioned in accordance with our End User License Agreement,” Bantegui said in closing. We appreciate your patience and reporting this exploit to us.

Although the community manager omitted specifics about the exploit under investigation, some forum users appear to be speculating that it might involve repeatedly summoning Echo of Duriel.
The items required to summon Duriel can be copied, and thousands of them are already being done so, claims one forum user. If so, it might be possible for those who are using the exploit to farm extremely rare items by repeatedly defeating the boss without having to complete any of the prerequisite steps to gain access to the fight with him.
As soon as Blizzard releases an update announcing that trading has been reinstated in Diablo 4, we’ll update this article as soon as we can.
While you wait, you might want to check out the custom PC that Blizzard is giving away, which may or may not be themed around Season of Blood (we have no idea). It is infused with real human blood.
