It’s official: God of War: Ragnarok, a game that was formerly exclusive to the PlayStation5, is the most recent PlayStation exclusive to make its way to the PC. It will be playing alongside its predecessor on Steam.
September 19, 2024, is when it will launch on PC, as was revealed on Thursday’s State of Play. In addition to Ghost of Tsushima, Spider-Man, and other PlayStation titles that have been certified by Steam Deck, God of War: Ragnarok will be accessible.
It is anticipated to have the updated PlayStation overlay that debuted with Ghost of Tsushima, which includes shared trophies and other features. Sony has confirmed that it will ship with support for Nvidia DLSS 3.7/AMD FSR 3.1/Intel XESS 1.3, as well as an unrestricted framerate and UltraWide capability.
To the dismay of a lot of gamers, the clip also announced that a PlayStation Network account will be needed.
The tales of Kratos and his soon-to-be teenage son, Atreus, are continued in God of War: Ragonarok. When it was released, the sequel was hailed as an engrossing spectacle and received a 10 in IGN’s review.
“It is a flawless piece of art from beginning to end, with flawless script, flawless performances, and jaw-dropping action. It’s everything a sequel should be, reflecting its central ideas and honoring its illustrious heritage but not being afraid to venture into thrilling new territory,” we noted at the time. “God of War Ragnarok is an almighty achievement and creates a new high that makes many of its peers look positively mortal by comparison.”
Following its release, God of War: Ragnarok went on to win multiple awards, received free DLC that added a new roguelike mode, and was eagerly awaited by fans for its PC version. Notably, God of War 2018 has an Overwhelmingly Positive rating on Steam thanks to our in-depth analysis of how Sony Santa Monica improved the game and made its epic more approachable. We’ll see whether the sequel delivers more of the same.
